There is much doom and gloom out there right now about the state of government, our financial affairs and our standing in the world. But how much of it is real and how much of it is made up by the media. There are many conspiracy theories circulating, but the truth of the matter is clear. There are more huge corporations stumbling into disasters than we’ve seen in a long while, and it can’t help but make more than a few people very nervous about the future state of their financial lives.
As Baby Boomers, we have lived a rich life for the most part, and as we head into our golden years we’ve never been more afraid that there might be nothing left in the pot to take care of us. These fears are justified. Social Security is heading for broke, there will be too many people for Medicare to take care of, and as we give up our income, our retirement pension isn’t looking so healthy anymore. So what are we going to do about this.
Well let’s start with the idea of retirement. I don’t know about you, but I’m 56 and I’m just getting started on the rest of my life. I don’t know what the word means and I can’t imagine every taking to the golf course or the Sunbelt to live out a quiet life. It’s not for me, and I’m sure it’s not for a lot of people. I’m looking for opportunities to increase the wealth, but more importantly, I’m looking for ways to pursue my passions and live a life of service that will benefit others. That’s my goal and I’ll be doing it until I die. I may be a late-bloomer, but this flower is definitely here for the long haul.
But suppose you do want to retire and take it easy, what are your options? Well, my friend Bill Losey has some answers for you. You can check out his website, myRetirementSuccess.com He has all kinds of great strategies to help you get the most out of the rest of your life.
As for me, I’m trying to take care of what I’ve got and hope that my strategies for increasing income and doing what gives me the greatest pleasure give me the life I truly desire.
Are you pursuing the life you desire. If not, then why not? If it’s all about your fears, then it’s time you got over the excuses and started making the changes that will allow you to do just that.
Many of us are afraid of change, but the fear of doing something different is just an excuse for sitting still. It’s safe there. But is it? Think about it. If we didn’t take risks in our lives, we wouldn’t have done half the things we’ve done. So I’m offering you the chance to make change in your life, and to do it safely.
