What is a Black Belt Millionaire?

People keep asking me “what is a black belt millionaire?” so I thought it was time I explained.

In the world of online personal development experts, handles are thrown around like a used doorknob sale. My coach said I needed one to distinguish me from the pack and suggested The Black Belt Millionaire; being The Fearless Lady was not enough. At that moment, I said “that’s crazy….who would want to call me that. I’m not qualified.”

She laughed and said, “Think about it. You’ve got a black belt in karate, a red belt in tae kwon do AND you have a villa in Bali worth over a million dollars. That makes you a black belt millionaire.” I laughed….. not convinced.

But the interesting thing about this handle business is…it’s memorable. It leaves a lasting impression. Who doesn’t want to be a successful black belt millionaire. It’s strong, it’s powerful, it’s wealthy and it inspires towards greatness. But it’s not just about the money. That’s the least of it.

I’m the Fearless Black Belt Millionaire because I earned it physically, spiritually and emotionally. I worked hard for the money, for the belt and the title. But it was my attitude that really made the difference.  I believed I could win.

I took my black belt in Shotokan karate on my 49th birthday after training for three years 4 x a week. I took my red belt in tae kwon do and didn’t take the black because I moved from Los Angeles to Paris, otherwise I probably would have done it. I fought hard to go beyond the barriers of pain, exhaustion and skill to achieve what I had, and I worked hard building my business so I could have a home in Bali.

Nothing comes to those who wait around expecting it to happen.

So here’s my question to you?  What handle would you give yourself if you looked at what you’ve done in YOUR life?  What title would describe your strengths in the world? Give me your answer as a comment on this blog. We’ll see just who is among us in this powerful online community. Who knows, maybe we can draw on each other’s strengths and become EVEN STRONGER!
