Did you know that your brain is constantly updating itself?

Some people believe we are hardwired to behave and think in specific ways, but recent studies have shown this to be a myth.

There is a field of brain science called neuroplasticity.  The neuro part is the nerve cells in our brain, and the plasticity is for the changing, malleable quality of how our brains function.

We are constantly changing our mind and it’s not a negative!

The brain is capable of changing its structure and function with thought and activity, otherwise how could we learn anything new.  But instead of limiting ourselves, we are expanding and growing. In a fascinating book by Dr. Norman Doidge called The Brain That Changes Itself, he shows how the brain is endlessly adaptable and far from being fixed it has remarkable capabilities for creating something new.

I have always felt that fear is a conditioned response to traumatic experiences, and our brains are ‘hardwired’ to believe that it is how it must always be.

Now there is a study done by the University of New York and the University of Texas that shows that fear can be treated. We can erase traumatic memories and conditioned fearful responses by resetting the switch and imprinting a different memory in it’s place.

Positive thinking is not new.  Benjamin Franklin was using it to teach people before anyone mentioned the word self-help.   He knew what has taken centuries to confirm.  We are the product of what we think, and we can change our thinking.
