Have you ever watched the show Entourage on HBO? It’s about a group of friends from Brooklyn who arrive in Hollywood and find fame and fortune, to some degree. The story is about how these friends stick together through a great many adventures and support each other in their rise and fall.
We don’t all have the advantage of having a pool of friends who are with us no matter what, and they don’t always give the best advice or support when we need it most. In fact, it may be that the people you really want the support from don’t give it because they don’t know how, or they don’t recognize you want it.
Does that sound familiar?
Any change process demands support to know you are in the right direction, to help you when you stumble, or even just to help hold you up when you can’t continue alone.
That’s the entourage I’m talking about.
Whether it’s from friends, family, community or your coach, building an entourage that supports you, cheers you on, and is also in your corner should you need back up, is essential to happiness and success.
My coaching clients come to rely on me for solid advice and insight into where they get stuck, and also learn to discern among the people in their lives as to who serves their needs and who doesn’t.
This is a critical stage in all our growth, and if you are surrounded by people who are nay saying or casting doubt on your ability to transform your life, you need to build a better entourage.
As dramatic as this sounds, it is the difference between success and failure.
