Congratulations to the Graduating Class of 2009

by Jacqueline on June 4, 2009

As I head off to Boston today to attend my daughter’s graduation from Wellesley College, my thoughts go to the promise made four years ago when they entered that they will be the best of the best, and can look forward to making a distinguished contribution to the world.

There is no doubt in my mind that this is true.

These are extremely bright young women, who have a vast array of possibilities in front of them, and the only difference between four years ago and now is they have to dig a little deeper to find them.

But right now, many of them, already despondent about career opportunities, feel their brilliant education isn’t going to be much help out in the real world as resumes go unread, unanswered, or rejected.

So here are my thoughts to the graduating class of 2009:

Reject doubt.  Do your best.  Instead.  – Watts Wacker (check out his work. It’s what the future is all about)

You are in charge of the future.  It is your graduation gift.  Use it wisely. – Jacqueline Wales

The Future is as promising as it ever was.  Do not get discouraged and settle for less by believing that’s all there is.  The only thing that stops you is YOU.  Don’t ever give up or give in.

RISK ALL. Nothing was ever done that amounted to much if you don’t take a risk that you will fail.  Failure is part of the tapestry of life. You are weaving a beautiful picture.

Hold fast to the dream because it is in our dreams that we create the brightest future.  You can have whatever it is you desire as long as you desire it enough.

Stay committed to your chosen path and know that whatever happens at this moment, it too shall pass.  Life is transitory and the only guarantee is change.

Be who you are without apology and seize the opportunity to bring your special magic to the world.

But most of all, BELIEVE in YOU.  You are unique and no one can take that away from you.

Celebrate today because you have much to be proud of.  You have taken the next step along the way to living your life on purpose.

CELEBRATE LIFE FEARLESSLY.
