Are You Spinning Your Wheels?

by Jacqueline on June 17, 2009

Are you spinning your wheels feeling like you’re going nowhere fast? What would it take to move your forward?

In The Fearless Factor I tell the story of 4 women.  They are standing at the entrance to a jungle path and they know that at the other end of the path is a life of bliss.  They are afraid of what awaits them on the journey, but decide that it’s probably a good thing and they make a decision to go.

How many took the journey?

None.

And the reason for that is, they took a decision but they did not follow it up with ACTION.

As business owners we know we can’t NOT take action, but how many of us spin our wheels rather than cold call someone to ask for business.  How many don’t study the books and programs we buy to make us more knowledgeable and therefore more profitable?  Or how many study the programs, then don’t implement them?  How many of us blame others for their lack of success?

There is no point to this.  We are solely responsible for EVERY, and I mean EVERY part of our existence.

We make decisions and frequently these decisions don’t come with an action.  We make choices and they are the wrong choices.  We called ourselves self-defeating names like Stupid and Unworthy, and other denigrating language, and we expect results that are contrary to our thinking. We end up spinning our wheels and wondering why there is no progress.

I speak about being fearless but in effect, there is no such thing as having NO Fear.  We all experience it so degree.

Being Fearless is not the absence of fear, but the choices and decisions we make when fear shows up in our life.

You do get what you ask for.  So why not ask for what you want.

You have all the power inside of you right now to create a fulfilling life.

There are a million excuses for not getting where you want to go, for staying stuck in a place of discomfort. For spinning your wheels.

The recession is an excuse.

Yes, there may be some physical limitations.  I don’t have as much money in the bank today as I did last year, and I could get all worried about the future, drive myself crazy with the ‘what if’s’ but I don’t.

And that’s because FOR TODAY, I have everything I need.

A roof over my head, food on the table, kids in college, and a business that is moving towards being very successful.  That’s my want.  That’s my vision and I’m going to make it happen.  That’s attitude.  That’s what makes the difference in your life.

But attitude alone won’t win the day.  You must take action to implement your dreams, to move forward with the vision and make it happen.

So here’s some strategies to get you going:

  • Make a list each morning of three important things you want to get done that day. Don’t do anything else until they are done, including checking email.
  • Set yourself some goals for the next 30 days, 60 days and 90 days.  Then set goals for one year from now.
  • Plan your action steps to achieve these goals.  Remember, we can’t swallow a whole elephant. Chunk it down.
  • Do three things each day that will lead you closer to your goal.

You are much stronger than you think, and much more capable than you give yourself credit for.  No matter how successful you think you are, there is always something to discover, to experience, and to become.

Coming soon The Fearless Factor Home Study Guide which will teach you how to take solid action so you can create your best life now.
