I just got back from a very long weekend away exploring the beautiful Dutchess County in New York State. As someone who lives in Manhattan, it’s sometimes tough to remember that there is more greenery than Central Park!

It’s hard to think courage when you go on vacation, but on this particular vacation I was reminded of how much courage is taken for granted when my husband and I visited the grand stately homes on the Hudson River and visited some of the most extraordinary gardens.  It was an extremely satisfying time and I recommend everyone to get some ‘nature’ time in during these wonderful, luscious months.

But what was most interesting was not the extravagant homes but the stories behind the homes. The people who fought to make America their own, who refused to be frightened into submission, and who developed a country we can, for the most part, be very proud of. (no one’s perfect!)

We visited the home and library of F.D.R and as I wandered the gardens, I  was delighted to find a sculpture of two people carved from the remains of the Berlin Wall. It was a reminder that we are all free to choose fear, or not.

For those of you who know me, I’m on mission to help as many people as possible remove fear from their vocabulary.  Eleanor Roosevelt said, “Courage is more exhilarating than fear, and in the long run, it is much easier.” I couldn’t agree more.
