Do you ever make mistakes and say FISH****
There are times in life when you really do something dumb? You wonder where your brain was in that moment you made the mistake. Well, I had one of those times when unconscious/conscious I fearlessly pushed the delete button, and my Microsoft User Data file disappear from the trash can. MAC did ask me “Are you sure” in computer speak! But I said ‘Yes’ anyway without thinking about what it is was I was deleting.
FISH!!!!!
When I realized my mistake my first thought was ‘how stupid can you be?’ and then I realized that this language was not helpful and I took my own advice. I made a mistake and there was only one word. “NEXT!”
I wiped out my entire database on Entourage just like that. While I had been complaining about the number of emails in my inbox that really needed a bomb put under them, I wasn’t really serious! Or was I?
The blessing is, the emails are all gone. The downside is all the emails are gone and I can’t remember who I needed to remember!
So the lesson of the day is clear. Think twice before you delete and check out the details if you don’t know what it is you are doing. Being a fast-draw is not necessarily a good thing.
But more importantly, when you make a mistake, there’s no point in giving yourself a hard time. It happened. Move on.
Today, I’m rebuilding my database and I have the opportunity to start afresh creating a system that is efficient and will not be out of hand again. And if you’re one of these people who wrote and didn’t get a reply, let me know!
