As you approach the new year full of anticipation for what’s next, keep in mind that setting goals without action is only wishful thinking and you must have a plan of action to succeed.
So let’s talk about getting S.M.A.R.T.
SMART goals are specific, measurable, attainable, relevant and timely.
- Specific: What are your goals? What would you like to achieve?
- Measurable: How do you know you are reaching them?
- Attainable: Be realistic, but think big
- Relevant: Set goals that are in line with your passions, skills and experience
- Timely – Set goals that have a deadline, that you can achieve in six months, a year, three years.
“There is one quality which one must possess to win, and that is definiteness of purpose, the knowledge of what one wants, and a burning desire to possess it.”
- Napoleon Hill
There’s also D.U.M.B goals too….
- Doable
- Understandable
- Manageable
- Beneficial
Whatever it is you choose to do, ask yourself first and foremost,
- Is this doable?
- Do I understand what’s involved?
- Can I manage it?
- How beneficial will this be to my life?
If you can answer these questions, then by all means, jump! Taking risks is all about respecting your intention and showing courage. Make this year your best one yet!
If you have trouble knowing what your goals are, or are unsure about how to reach them, you may need someone to keep you on track with reaching your desired results.
